Additives

Plastic Trading

Abrasion agents are additives that increase the abrasion resistance of the final product, specifically, by improving the wear and tear resistance caused by friction.

Antiblocking agents are used to reduce tack, making the product easy to separate. By adding anti-blocking additives, the surface of polymers will not easily experience blocking or sticking to each other even when going through the rolling or stacking process. Generally, anti-blocking is used for plastic packaging/film applications so that during the printing process plastic packaging does not stick together.

Antistatic agents are commonly used in the production process of ropes and cords to prevent the buildup of static electricity. Static electricity can be generated during the production process due to friction between the materials involved. Antistatic agents specifically work by increasing the electrical conductivity of the materials involved in the production process. This allows static electricity to dissipate more easily, reducing the risk of sparks and fires.

Antioxidant agents help prevent products from yellowing or oxidation, a process that occurs when products are exposed to air causing discoloration and material damage, especially for indoor product applications. Antioxidants work by neutralizing free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can cause oxidative damage.

Blowing agents are substances that are added to materials to create foam. They work by expanding the material and creating tiny bubbles of gas, which gives the material its foamed structure.

Bonding agents are substances that enhance the bonding between two surfaces. They work by increasing the surface area and improving the chemical compatibility between the materials. This results in a stronger and more uniform bond that can withstand stress and wear.

Clarifying agents are substances added to liquids or polymers to improve their clarity or transparency. They work by reducing haze, eliminating impurities, and enhancing light transmission.

Flame retardants are chemical compounds added to plastics to reduce their flammability. They work by interfering with the combustion process, slowing down the ignition and spread of fire.

Optical brightening agents are substances that are added to products to make them appear whiter and brighter. They work by absorbing invisible ultraviolet (UV) light and emitting visible blue light. This optical illusion counteracts the yellowish tinge that often develops in materials over time, resulting in a whiter and more vibrant appearance.

Purging agents are specialized compounds used to clean thermoplastic processing machinery. They effectively remove residual plastic material, contaminants, and colorants from the equipment between production runs.

Slip agents are additives incorporated into plastics to reduce friction between polymer surfaces and between the plastic and other materials. They are essential for enhancing the processing and handling of plastic products.

Titanium Dioxide is a widely used pigment in the plastic industry due to its exceptional properties. It is commonly used for whiteness and opacity, UV protection, heat resistance, weather resistance, and mechanical and electrical property enhancements.

UV Stabilizers are additives incorporated into plastics to protect them from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV light can cause plastic degradation, leading to discoloration, embrittlement, and loss of mechanical properties.

Viscosity Depressants are additives used to reduce the viscosity (thickness) of molten plastic during processing. They are essential for improving the flow and processability of the polymer.

Ethylene-Butene copolymer is a type of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) created by polymerizing ethylene and butene monomers. It is known for its excellent flexibility, elasticity, and resistance to environmental factors.

Ethylene-Octene copolymer is a type of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) created by polymerizing ethylene and octene monomers. It is known for its excellent flexibility, elasticity, and resistance to various environmental factors.

Talc Masterbatch is a concentrated mixture of talc powder and a carrier resin used in the plastics industry to enhance the properties of plastic products.

Syndiotactic polybutadiene is a type of thermoplastic that offers a balance of strength, stiffness, and flexibility. Its crystallinity contributes well to its heat resistance.

Styrene butadiene copolymer is a thermoplastic resin produced by polymerizing styrene and butadiene monomers. The combination of these two monomers results in a material with a unique blend of properties, including elasticity, strength, and processability.

EBS is an organic compound commonly used as a release agent and lubricant in various industries. Within the plastic industry, it is often used to prevent plastic from sticking to molds during injection molding and extrusion processes. It’s a waxy, white solid derived from the reaction of ethylenediamine and stearic acid.

Polyethylene wax is a synthetic wax derived from polyethylene. It’s widely used as a processing aid and performance enhancer in the plastic industry, reduces friction between the plastic and processing equipment, and improves the flow of molten plastic and preventing sticking.

Paraffin wax is a soft, colorless solid derived from petroleum, coal, or shale oil that consists of a mixture of hydrocarbon molecules containing between 20 and 40 carbon atoms. It is often incorporated into masterbatches to provide lubrication, release, and other properties to plastic products.

Nylon 6 is a semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic resin known for its excellent balance of mechanical and thermal properties, impact resistance, chemical resistance, and low friction and wear. It’s produced through the polymerization of caprolactam.

Bioplastics are used for more environmentally friendly plastic products. Biodegradable plastics are an alternative to conventional plastics that are derived from renewable plant-based sources such as cassava and corn.
