SBR is one of the most widely used synthetic rubbers, made from styrene and butadiene. It
offers good abrasion resistance, aging stability, and cost-effectiveness, though it lacks the high-
performance characteristics of specialty rubbers. Its balanced properties make it a versatile
general-purpose elastomer.
SBR is extensively used in tire production (often blended with natural rubber), as well as in
conveyor belts, footwear, adhesives, and flooring materials. Its affordability and decent
mechanical properties make it a staple in industries like automotive, construction, and consumer
goods manufacturing. However, it performs poorly against oils and extreme weather conditions.
